State police: One person killed in crash on I-64 in Hampton

One person was killed in a crash Thursday morning as troopers responded to several crashes on area interstates amid icy road conditions. Virginia State Police said in a news release troopers responded to multi-vehicle crashes on Interstate 64 eastbound at Settlers Landing Road -- where five crashes happened starting just before 4 a.m. State police said icy conditions caused a crash in the northbound lanes of U.S. 17 on the Coleman Bridge just before 6:15 a.m. A preliminary investigation found a Chevrolet pickup truck hauling a boat jackknifed while crossing the bridge, which dislodged the boat from the trailer.
