Rogers is a city located in northwestern Arkansas. The city was named in honor of Captain Charles Warrington Rogers who was vice president and general manager of the St. Louis-San Francisco Railroad, also known as the Frisco Railroad. Man Admits To Stealing From Bentonville American Legion Post

A former commander of a northwestern Arkansas American Legion post has pleaded guilty to charges related to the theft of more than $100,000 from the group. The Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that 53-year-old Marvin Akers of Rogers pleaded guilty Thursday to a theft of property charge and was sentenced to 10 years of probation as part of a plea deal.

State denies 'cabaret dancing' request

The state denied an application to allow "cabaret dancing" at a restaurant on Arkansas 12 in the Prairie Creek area east of Rogers after opposition from residents and Benton County officials. A request to amend the state-issued permit for Tony C's Italian Gardens Ristorante was sent to the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board on Oct. 20. The request asked that the permit for the business, identified as a private club, be changed to add cabaret dancing and to change the name to "Hots NWA."

Deal reduces Benton County's ambulance costs

County officials said they have reached agreement with the seven ambulance service providers, mostly municipal fire departments, that cover the unincorporated areas of the county. The county will pay the providers about $1.8 million this year, and the cost for 2018 is expected to be about $1.5 million.
