National City is located in southern California in San Diego County. It is the second oldest city in San Diego County, giving it an historic past. When the Spanish had control over California, the Spanish soldiers used El Rancho del Rey, meaning "the Ranch of the King" in Spanish, to graze their horses. National City now sits where this ranch once existed. When Mexico gained its independence from Spain he name was changed to Rancho de la Nacion, or "Ranch of the Nation" in English. The car of a 50-year-old woman who vanished a week ago was found in Ocean Beach Tuesday, police said. Debra Puente was last seen driving near Friars and Mission Gorge roads March 28. She had gone out with friends after work, San Diego police said.
